Visitors
will have a unique opportunity to explore the hills
around the north of Chiang Mai, by visiting several
hilltribe villages, going down the rapids in a river on
inflatable rafts (around mid March-June due to low level
of water bamboo rafts are used instead), trekking
through the forest on elephant backs, biking on the dirt
road through the jungle and hilly countryside, and
walking on the steep wooded hills. Overnight stays at
the Hmong Lodge (simple but equipped with necessary
amenities) offer hilltribe atmosphere. The lodge
features barbecue / camp - fire dinner and cultural
presentations by the Hmongs.

| ITINERARY:

| Day 01
Chiang Mai – Hmong Hilltribe Lodge (-/L/D) |
|
Pick up passengers from hotels,
airport, railway station and bus terminal in Chiang
Mai. Depart Chiang Mai by 4-WD Land Rover or similar to
visit the hiltribe museum at Mae Rim and a local market
at Mae Malai. Then continue to Ban Mae Taman of Mae
Tang. Take a one-hour elephant ride through the
rainforest, which for most people is an exciting and
unforgettable experience and ride on a typical northern
ox-cart through rural landscape. After a picnic lunch
embark on the inflatable rafts for an adventurous
journey down the rapids in the white-water and scenic
Mae Tang River for about an hour (dependable on the
season). Continue by the 4-wheel drive to Baan Huey Rai,
passing several villages, orchards, valleys and rice
fields. Continue uphill via Saluang village to Baan
Pang Hai, a simple village situated 850 metres above sea
level. Check-in at the HMONG HILLTRIBE LODGE, B.B.Q.
dinner at the lodge, followed by a presentation of the
Hmong dances and songs and overnight. |

| Day 02 Hmong

After breakfast drive to a small
village of Baan Teen Doi where you take a short stroll
to Mae Pa. Get into action by Mountain biking to Baan
Palan. Visit a small village reservoir and continue
biking to Baan Pong Kwaw, where there is an old of
temple with beautiful wall paintings. Picnic lunch.
Drive by 4-WD on mountain roads through Baan Pok, Baan
Pang Kwai and Baan Nong Hoi Mai. Then get into action
again by trekking or mountain biking from Nong Hoi Mai
to Mae Khi village, where you can have coffee or tea in
the Hmong’s kitchen. Return to HMONG HILLTRIBE LODGE
for dinner and overnight. |

| Day 03
Hilltribe Lodge – Chiang Mai (B/L/-) |
|
After breakfast depart the lodge by
4-wheel drive. Visit Queen Sirikit’s Botanical Garden
and an orchid farm on the way. Lunch will be taken at a
local restaurant. Visit a snake farm before transfer to
your hotel in Chiang Mai or to Chiang Mai Airport. |
